The folks over at Edmunds.com are known for doing some interesting studies in the automotive industry, but one of the most recent ones really threw us for a loop. Edmunds recently decided to rank different automotive brands by "Americaness." As in which auto brands are the most American, and the results they got are anything but expected.

If you asked the average person which automaker is most American, they would most likely answer with Ford or Chevy or Dodge. Surprisingly, their study found that the "Most American Cars" came from none other than Toyota.

That's right according to Edmunds.com the current lineup of new Toyota contains some of the most American vehicles on the road.

To end up with these results, Edmunds looked at where the vehicles were assembled, where they were designed, and where the parts were sourced from. For vehicles like the Toyota Tunda, they found that 75 percent of the vehicle's parts came from domestic sources. The  Toyota Avalon was found to have 80 percent of its parts come from the U.S. as well as being designed, engineered, and produced here. That is more that can be said for the "Traditionally American" brands that typically source their products from overseas and have a lot of their models manufactured in Mexico and Canada.

So the next time one of your crotchety old relatives tells you to "buy American" when it comes to your next vehicle purchase do just that, and make your way to Del Toyota. We maintain a large selection of new and used Toyota models at our dealership. We are located at 2945 E. Lincoln Hwy. Thorndale, PA 19372.
