Last month here on the Del Toyota Inc. blog we talked about the all-new 2014 Tundra pickup truck, well now we have some very exciting news that also involves this great vehicle.  Earlier this month the production factory in San Antonio, Texas responsible for the Japanese automakers trucks built their one-millionth vehicle, which happened to be a special edition Tundra.

Since the Texas truck plant began producing vehicles in 2006 it has been pumping out quality Tundra's for the United States, as well as Tacoma pickups since 2010.

The milestone vehicle the factory produced was a 1974 edition Tundra, complete with a Sunset Bronze Mica paint job.  This special trim was designed in honor of the ranch that used to sit on the grounds the factory now operates on.

Employing 2,800 people, the Texas Toyota plant assembles the trucks after the transmissions are manufactured in Durham, N.C. and the V6 and V8 engines are built at a factory in Huntsville, Alabama.

The President of Toyota Texas expressed his gratitude for everyone out there driving a truck built at the plant in a statement: "We are grateful for our loyal customers across North America who tell us they love driving Texas-built Tacomas and Tundras.  It makes me incredibly proud of our team members and 21 on-site suppliers every time I see one of our trucks on the road knowing that safety and quality are built into every one of them."

Everyone at Del Toyota Inc. also thanks those in the Thorndale, Pennsylvania area who are driving a pickup from our dealership and brand.  We remind you to stop by and see the professionals in our service center to keep your truck running in tip top condition.  If you do not already drive a Tacoma or Tundra then come check them out in our inventory of new cars and test drive one today.
