Many automotive engineers believe that hydrogen fuel cell technology is the future for cars. Of course, ongoing joke is that no matter what the year, hydrogen fuel cell technology is always "five years away." Toyota aims to finally change that with its flagship hydrogen fuel cell car, the 2017 Toyota Mirai..

Toyota aims to offer the car of the future today, with the 2017 Toyota Mirai. In fact, "Mirai" is Japanese for "future." Toyota knows what they're doing. The 2017 Toyota Mirai does seem like something out of science fiction. After all, it runs on hydrogen, emits water as its only waste product, and gets over 300 miles to the tank. It takes about five minutes to fill up the Mirai's hydrogen fuel cell— slower than filling a tank with gasoline, but much faster than charging an electric battery.

Toyota aims to incentivize early adoption for the 2017 Toyota Mirai. They offer free fuel for three years, and a 8-year/100,000 mile warranty on the fuel cell system.

Unfortunately for any would-be early adopters, the 2017 Toyota Mirai is only available in parts of California, and before you think about buying a Mirai in California and shipping it home, Mirai-compatible recharging stations are also only in parts of California. Fortunately, while we don't have a 2017 Toyota Mirai, we do carry a wide variety of Toyota vehicles, both conventional and hybrid.
