Check Tire Pressure Regularly
Heat causes the air in tires to expand, which can lead to overinflation. Overinflated tires are more susceptible to damage from potholes, curbs, and other road hazards. Check your tire pressure at least once a month using a quality pressure gauge.
Rotate Tires Every 5,000-7,500 Miles
Rotating your tires regularly helps them wear evenly, which extends their life and improves performance. During summer's extra driving, it's especially important to stick to a consistent rotation schedule. Most manufacturers recommend rotating tires every 5,000 to 7,500 miles.
Monitor Tread Depth and Wear
Adequate tread depth is critical for tires to perform well, especially in wet conditions. Use the penny test to check if your tread is still above 2/32 inches: place a penny in the tread with Lincoln's head upside down - if you can see all of his head, it's time to replace the tire. Look out for uneven wear, bald spots, bulges, or cracks, which can all be signs of tire issues that need to be addressed.
